(un)supported video cards

The latest list (June 17, 2014) of supported video cards does not mention cards like the HD7970 or Radeon R9 280X.

Does that mean that OpenGL with C1pro will not work with cards not on this list? I'm looking to upgrade my HD5770 video card in 2010 Mac Pro 5.1 (6-core 3.33ghz, 16gb RAM), C1pro performance is my main goal.

  It may but is untested, unverified and thus unsupported.
  Proceed at your own risk with a card of your choice or purchase a card on the list.

  Thanks Drew, it may be wise to stick to a HD 7950 then.
