    Simon,
Try clearing the option to "Display Previews At All Times" in the Thumbnail and Preview options.

    Hi Drew,

Thanks for the tip - unfortunately when I try it, the Media tab renders the file from the original raw file (or so it seems based on time to generate the preview). I will play around a little bit more tonight; but from the workflow video's I'm sure there is a way to have the Media tab show a preview of a large jpeg that is saved in the cataloge file - just need to figure out how to do it...

As always - thanks for the help and any further suggestions would be VERY welcome.

    Cheers,
    Simon

There's also two locations where you can choose to "Use Built In Thumbnail (If Available)". Try to uncheck both of those and allow Media Pro to handle both the thumbnail generation and the Media Preview.

For previews ignore what Drew suggested as that is just veiwing the original images and all the hassle that entails if wanting to browse throught them fast.

Try control clicking on the thumbnails to highlight them (I'd do just a few for the first time to see if it works for you) then go to Action > rebuild Item, or Ctrl+B.

Let us know how you get on.

I've still had no luck getting the Media tab to display previews at the pixel resolution of the full screen previews in the Thumbnails and Preview options. Either I get full size images with new renderings (too slow) or jpeg previews at the thumbnail pixel dimensions (too small).

I've started a support case with Phase One and will update this thread with any results I get. In the next couple of days I'll also check this catalogue on a Mac and see if this issue is Win7 related...

Simon I'm guessing you are using the Phaseone rendering engine, if you change it to Windows Imaging Component the problem should dissapear and you should be able to rebuild your previews as I mentioned before.

    Paul,

You are 100% correct - I have the media setting set up for PhaseOne rendering. I'll experiment later tonight when I get home to see if changing it to WIP solves the issue...

Unfortunately one of the big draws of MP is that it will render my files based on my C1 edits. Surely the larger previews should be able to be generated regardless of rendering engine... if not now in a future release? Also - any ideas if this problem exists when using MP with a Mac?

I do not use a Mac so cannot comment. As to the other part of your question, unfortunately Simon that's only a question Phaseone can answer, but good luck on getting a straight answer from them. 🙄

Here is the update based on my support case with Phase One.

There is a bug/problem with how the full screen previews are rendered using Capture One rendering on Windows - they have reproduced it. This problem does not exist on a Mac (I haven't tested this) and hopefully they will address it in a minor update.

Using WIP may be an option for full screen previews for some users - it was not for me (didn't render C1 edits, and Sony doesn't have a codec for a850 raw files...)

Hope this can help anyone else who may run into this problem. Cheers,
    Simon
