my canon 20D B/W's open
in color and not b/w like I shot them. The camera manuel says it writes to the card in b/w. Then how come when I open them in C1, they are in perfect color. Thanks if anyone has an answer.

Hi,
Raw files are always colour. If you set the camera to record jpgs in camera then thay are b/w and will import to your computer as such.
If you shoot RAW they are full colour and you have to convert them in Photoshop or other editor. I THINK they are tagged internally as b/w but I have not yet found any software which recognises them properly.
Photoshop Elements 3 HALF recognises them inamuch that the thumbnail viewer shows the RAW image in b/w but the converter (Camera RAW) works in colour.
If anyone knows any more about this I will be REALLY pleased to hear from you -- especially if the images ARE tagged in some way in RAW and if anyone knows of a converter which honors thet tag.
