c8 slower
Hi guys,
Installed the El Capitan update for C8. But it looks like C8 is getting slower every version I install. I am running it on a Mac Pro 2015 8 cores and duals GPU's. This should be really really fast. OpenCL and Metal.
I tried using C8 now with OpenCL on and Off. But same speed. It feels like I am using the software on a real slow old mac :9
What's happening ?

Seems like Capture one if not using your video cards.
BTW C1 is not using Metal in any case and as outline in other thread by C1 developers they rely on OpenCL for everything rather then sticking to proprietary layer.
I do suggest to open support case with C1 to diagnose what is wrong with your setup. But you should be fast as lighting on a configuration that you described.0 -
thanks for your reply. I did not get an email of the reply, sorry for the slow response from my side.
How can i make an support case?0 -
Email advice about replies it not active on the forum.
To create a support case - one way is to go the the Help menu in C1
Then click on "Capture One Support".
In that window click on "Contact Technical Support".
You will need to log in at some point.
HTH.

Same here. I've also a 8-Core Mac Pro and its damn slow 🤬 0 -
Same issue here - 6-core 32Gb Mac Pro, D700 gorgeous 5K Dell monitor... Feels jerkily and slow. 0 -
I work also with a 4K display and when i scale down the c1 window it's a little bit smoother… but come on PhaseOne, you're kidding me, right? 0 -
i just bought a new iMac 27 inch retina...and contacted Phase one regarding the slow editing speed .. and was told i shouldn't be editing on this machine ..."Still, the imac 27 retina is not a pro machine made for photo editing, basically what you are seeing is how it performs. We generally recommend a mac pro or macbook pro for editing."
WTF??????0 -
? kinda strange to hear that from support. I do edit on non Retina Machine 38 Megapixel RAW files and it works like a charm. The only thing is if OpenCL is not working, then definetely everything runs slow, and non responsive.
"I work also with a 4K display and when i scale down the c1 window it's a little bit smoother…"
This is because of large previews, so when viewed on full screen, it forces C1 to regenerate previews every time, because by default generated previews is smaller then what you see on screen. Suggest to increase preview image size in settings to match your 4K display.0
