Set white balance on Phase Back preview using c1pro?
My apologies if this thread exists, but it's a tough one to search for...
I was recently on set with a photographer who took issue with the fact that the thumbnails coming in were 'blue.' This is regardless of the fact that I had C1Pro set to select new capture "WHEN READY" and the previews themselves never showed up blue. He was literally upset about the the thumbnails, even though they're only 'blue' for a second or so. Also the preview on the back of the P65+ was blue as well. Oy.
(Please assume, for the sake of conversation, that I was dealing with an entirely irrational NYC fashion shooter. 👿 )
I did not get to handle the camera (H2 w/ P65+ back) at all, so changing the white balance on the camera/back was not an option. The photographer's first assistant informed me that I could change the white balance for the back preview through the software (aka C1Pro). I have never done this, I usually just set a custom white balance on the camera/back before the shoot so it emulates the 'actual' white balance in C1Pro.
So, my question is: Is this possible? Can you change the white balance for the preview on the back using only C1Pro? If so, HOW?

Yes, when I may assume you are shooting tethered with the P65+ to CO Pro 6.
As for the HOW: Go to the Camera tool on the Capture tool tab. Set the white balance with the eye-dropper in the Camera tool or adjust the WB with the White Balance tool on the Color tool tab. After you are satisfied with the WB value, click in the SET button in the Camera tool. This will upload the WB value to the camera back and become effective as the WB value.
Note: I am not sure whether this will prevent the short 'blue image' to appear.

Paul, you've got it correct. I've run into the same thing and setting the WB for the back (and, transitively, the assigned WB for the images coming in) removes the blue "preview".
Note that if you don't set the back's WB in c1, attempting to open the .tif (raw, not processed .tif) in PS will give you the blue WB and have your clients freak out.0
