I would like to create jpg versions of these NEF files with NCX, import them in MP and then synchronize inside MP the annotations of the JPG files with the existing annotations of the NEF files.

    Is it possible? How?

Namely I would like e.g. to copy the full IPTC annotation of DSC000.NEF into the annotation of DSC000.JPG.

I believe this can be done when You maintain the same filenames:
Under Menu|Scripts|Annotate|Copy from items with same name

However, maybe it's easier to generate the JPG's with MP?

Thank you. This gives me a way to adapt my IVMP NEF Workflow to MP.
With IVMP you do not have to generate JPG files from the NEF, since IVMP allows you to visualize the NEF files even after NCX editing, something MP does dot.
With MP what you see is the file before editing.

If I generate the JPG using MP, all editing done with NCX is gone.

Did you consider to change your workflow from NEF to DNG?
Some argumentation can be found on the forum of the DAMbook () and here on dpBestflow: http://www.dpbestflow.org/file-format/raw-file-formats

I did read « The DAM Book ». The workflow described in this book is neat, but I am used to Nikon Capture, and I prefer to stick to it.

I see the message from The DAM Book is to create a system that is flexible and doesn't lock you into one vendor. That includes Adobe DNG.

iView was created with the same philosophy and Microsoft do their credit did not orphan Mac users despite the rest of their Expression Suite being Windows only. Phase One appear to hold true the same philosophy but are failing in the execution. Phase One engineers are very clever and proud people. I look forward to frequent updates.

    NN228802UL,

I'm in the same situation now that my G5 has died and I was forced to buy a new computer (Snow Leopard). I can no longer see my NEF edits in EM2. (I haven't purchased MP yet.)

I'm curious to know how well this solution is working for you. Any advice for someone who is about to start making NEF -> JPG derivatives?
