Sharpening/resizing for print
In the section on Sharpening and Focus the userguide says:
"...a more aggressive sharpening affect can be used but this should be applied after the image has been sized according to desired printing dimensions..."
As I see it, to go about the sizing the only way is to use an output recipe. However, this will create a copy of the file I'm working on, most likely in a different format, and one that isn't immediately available to CO7 if you're working with catalogs; You'll first have to import the copy.
A smoother workflow than this must be possible, right? Thanks in advance.

You can print directly from CO7. Have you tried that already? 0 -
Hi Paul
Yes i am printing from within CO7; the problem is that if I want to follow the recommendation to resize, then apply what is commonly referred to as creative sharpening, as far as i'm aware I have to do that outside of CO7: You can't resize for your prints' dimensions and then apply selective sharpening within C07.
It appears one must:
1. Raw convert in CO7
2. Export to Tiff
3. Resize the tiff-copy with some other piece of software. If you are a Windows user you'll also likely do the selective sharpening with another tool, since selective sharpening in CO7 is not fully functional.
4. Import the tiff back into CO7
5. Print from within CO7
This is not an acceptable workflow.
I wonder how professional users manage this scenario.

I think the Capture One team should look at how LR manage the printing process
you get things like media type and amount of sharpening which are an easy way to get the look you want
thats the way to do go!!

I agree, Rob.
However, on the more specific issue of resizing before creative/selective sharpening, Lightroom seems not to provide a tool for that either.
What is needed is something like the Size/Resolution tool in Nikon Capture NX2, which can be applied at any time (In Capture NX2 the user controls the sequence in which adjustments are applied)

Lightroom bases its output sharpening on the size of the image you have selected at output time. The more I use LR the more I think its the *Pro* app 😉 0
