    Just purchased 9.3 online and downloaded it, upgrading from version six. Installed 9.3 and it works fine, LOVE how fast it is, BUT it causes a problem where I can't access many things in windows, such as CONTROL PANEL, WINDOWS UPDATE, DEFAULT PROGRAMS, etc... When I try and run any of those I get the following:
    http://www.programmerfish.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/File-Does-Not-Have-a-Program-Associated-with-it-Windows-7-and-Windows-8-Error-Solved-1.png

    It does not always say explorer.exe in the top. For example when I try and run CONTROL PANEL instead it says:
    ::{26EE0688-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98638}\0

    Can anyone help? I love the program but can't have the situation where I can't access my control panel. I tried using System Restore and it puts me back to the just before I installed Capture One. The Control Panel problem is fixed but then I don't have Capture One. I think it's a problem with C++ runtime library that gets installed with capture one. I tried downloading a version from MS but it didn't help. I Have installed and uninstalled 4 times. Problem is reproducible but I can't figure out how to fix it. Please help.

    Make sure you have all of the Windows updates that might be relevant in place.

    Bear in mind that Win 7 is no longer auto updating - you have to instigate the process.

    I have Win 7 Pro and all of the relevant updates and have no problems.

    Thanks for the input. Yes, I have all the windows updates and a pretty clean system but I have searched extensively and have not found anyone else with this problem related to Capture One so I'm sure it's an issue with my computer. I did contact support. They replied quite quickly and recommended some steps I had tried, but performed again. I downloaded the C++ libraries and .NET framework from MS and reinstalled them, the cleaned the registry. At this point everything was fine. Reinstalled 9.3 and the issue came back. Uninstalled 9.3 and the issue resolved, even without rebooting.

    I did try installing 8.3 and it did fine, did not cause any problems with my system.

    I then tried opening my CONTROL PANEL folder a few times during installation of 9.3 and found that there is something that happens in the last couple of seconds of installation that causes this. Of course I can't install step by step so I don't know what the problem is. Very frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Do you have an anti-virus program enabled during the installation? Sometimes they can cause problems when installing a software package and need to be disabled temporarily.

    I do have ESET NOD32 installed. I will try turning it off during the installation, though it's never caused an issue before.

    No, no luck with the install having NOD32 off. Nobody else gets this, huh? This is driving me crazy.

    There is a "windows integration" setting in the preferences window (first page/you may need to scroll down).
    Try to uncheck this.

    Never found the windows integration area.

    Some new info. I created a new user on my machine, installed Capture one 9 on that and it worked great and I was able to access the control panel as the new user just fine. BUT, when I switched over to my old user profile on which C1 9 was not installed, it screwed up my profile even though C1 9 was not on it! Weird. Obviously something is wrong with my user profile. I'VE NO IDEA WHAT. I tried copying over all the stuff from my old profile to the new profile but when I did that the problem again reared it's ugly head in the new profile.

    Very frustrating.

    Still nothing. The people in support tried really hard and were very polite. I'm impressed with how quickly they replied, and it's now obvious that there is an irreconcilable issue with my Windows 7 user account. My issue, not a problem with their program. But we came up with an acceptable solution. Kudos to support. I'm very happy. This is exactly how they should treat customers who have a problem. I wish all companies acted in such a professional manner.
