    Hi
OpenCL is used for GPU acceleration and not CPU.
For this very reason a iMac is a very bad choice since the graphic card is to weak for enabling OpenCL

With out a doubt Intel CPU is the better choice and the more cores the better.
If you want to go down the Mac route then you should go for Mac PRO

More openCL information and what graphic card that is supported:

    Hi,

thanks for the answer. The article mentioned is well known to me. My GPU is supported.

The reason why I asked is, that I have read something, that the speed of Open_CL also depends on the way, that the CPU handles the resources. And in these tests (with same GPU) the AMD was much faster than the Intel...

These informations are a bit older. Maybe with actual drivers there are no more problems today. That is the reason, why I asked someone, that uses Open_C every day 😉

Working with my machine is "ok" - but especially "making prewivews" and "developing" could be much faster. That is why I look for a faster CPU. Do you know, wich processes wil be moved to Open_CL in future?

Ope_CL will continued to be on screen rendering.

IN regard to processing and preview generation the primary bottlenecks is CPU and I/O speed to disk
If you have not gone SSD yet then this will make a world of difference.

I agree with Ulf. Try to install SSD, you will be amazed how much difference it makes 😉
