Profiles as from Magne Nilsen, or home made profiles, can be used with CO4. However, they don’t show up as expected like they did with CO3.x. This is for two reasons. First, CO4 has its own profile folder and second, CO4 has its own naming schema for proflies. Both constraints are easily met with the instructions below.

To allow the camera profile to show in the Camera Name section in the ICC Profile list, copy its file to the following folder: <volume>/Applications/Capture One/Contents/Resources/Profiles/Input.
Note that to open the Contents subfolder, right click on the Capture One object and select ‘Show Package Contents’.
Next, rename the file according to naming conventions used by CO4. In short, the file name must start with the camera model name as CO4 uses for its own profile for the camera. For example, for the Canon 5D it starts with CanonEOS5D- and for the Leica M8 with LeicaM8-. Don’t forget the dash! Restart CO4 and the profile(s) show up behind the camera name in the ICC Profile list.

They will also be read if you put them in /Users/<user>/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. If you save ICC Profiles from the color editor, they will be saved here. The naming convention is still important though.

If you mean updating the software with a newer release, the answer is yes, if you stored the profiles within the Capture One program package as describe in this thread. Therefore, I keep a copy of the profiles in a backup location.

I sent him a note last night along similar lines. His reply revolved around effort vs return.

He has not 'given up' on color mapping and related technologies...but it doesn't sound like we will see anything for Capture One in the near future.
