Export to Parent folder
I'm trying to make the switch from Lightroom to Capture One (I use PhaseOne camera's from time to time and I like C1's output better), but some things are bothering me, one of them is exporting.
According to the Windows section of this forum, it's possible to export to a parent folder using a "..\EDITS" notation.
I want a recipe that basically says "Okay, I will export your edits/selects up one folder to a new folder called "EDITS".
My folder structure is this (like many other photographers)
2017-02-05 - <subject>
-- RAW
-- EDITS
-- SELECTS
-- EXPORT_CLIENTS
-- EXPORT_PORTFOLIO.
All my photos are in RAW but I want my exports to go to EDITS or SELECTS. So one folder up of the RAW folder.
But I tried that and this happens :

So it creates a weird "-." folder within the same RAW folder.
These were my settings (new recipe, nothing else changed).

I'm on a Mac (MacOS Sierra). Are there any (Mac)users out there where this works?

In Output tab -> Process Recipe -> File -> Root folder - set to "Image folder"
then in again under Process Recipe -> Sub Folder - set to "..\Edits" (or whatever you like)
this is given you use sessions or a referenced catalog.

I could be misunderstanding your intent, but why not use the tab "Output Location"?
As far as I can tell, that which you are using is indeed set to create a subfolder within the image location and export there...
Here's how I have mine set for generic stuff:

To add a clarifying point, while that ".." does work in Windows, it will never work in a Unix based environment like MacOS. 0 -

I have a (referenced) catalog, with multiple projects/shoots. I want one preset (16-bit TIFF) that always exports to the parent folder. When switching projects I don't to manually pick my output location every time, I just want it in the parent folder (or a sub-folder of the parent folder) of the currently selected image.[quote="gusferlizi" wrote:

No, I know, but the "/" character is an illegal character according to C1. Can't even use it in inputs and you get an error beep on MacOS.0 -

I see...

Not sure then. I'll have a think about it.
Open a support case and try to ask them. Maybe it's a bug.0 -
Just wanted to say that the above workflow now works with Capture One 11.
Going to test C11 for the next month and hopefully be able to switch away from Lightroom.
(Still missing some great workflow options Lightroom has, but I hope I can find workarounds in C11).0
