Older versions won't open
When I try to open a session with an older C1 version it gives an error and database verifications fails.
Also when I open preferences during a session in the latest version 12 it also give an unrecoverable error on the database.
some months ago I upgraded my macbook to Mojave and I lost all my layers in my active session.
Although it's great software with high quality functionality, I'm thinking of throwing it away and after 5 years returning to PS/LR.
I'm so fed up with losing my work !!!

It's not entirely clear what you are trying to do. Are you trying to
(1) use version 10 (or whatever previous version it is) to open a session last used in version 10, or
(2) use version 10 to open a session last used in version 12, or
(3) use version 12 to open a session last used in version 10?
If it is (1), then there is no need to do that. If you have version 12, then you can open a version 10 session with it perfectly well. (It will convert the session file to version 12, and keep a backup of the version 10 session file.)

Hi Pyth,
You can't open an updated session/catalog with an older version of Capture One : sessions and catalogs are automatically updated when upgrading C1 and can't be opened any longer with older versions.
Conversely, old sessions/catalogs are expected to open with new versions of C1 (and subsequently converted), except, unexpectedly, for the new version 12.1 of Capture One. This "bug (?)" has been reported by many users, who have lost their adjustments when going from 12.0 to 12.1. Hopefully, the last adjustments should have been backuped somewhere by Capture One before updating, and you should be able to recover them.
This has been previously reported, for instance:
