tiff output to tiff look different
I have just made adjustments to a 16 bit Argb tif in CO7 then output to 16bit Argb tif to preserve adjustments so I can edit again in photoshop. The adjusted file and the output file (proof set to Argb) when displayed in CO7 side by side look quite different - color readouts are different.
I have never tried adjusting a tif in CO7 before - I believe this is supposed to be a supported work follow- am I missing something?
TIA

No replies to this post Someone, Anyone - is this because it is : 1. a stupid question, or 2. no one else has experienced this. I am still struggling with CO71.1.1 and don't know if the problems on my new maxed out 27inch iMac are hardware or software related.
Cheers

Curious.. The normal work flow is that you make some adjustment on the raw file through looking the preview in CO and process to...like as Argb tiff and you can work more on the tiff file in photoshop if you need to. The preview with adjustment in CO and the processed tiff on photoshop should look almost same. 0 -

you are talking about a TIF adjusted in Photoshop and viewed (back) in C1, correct?
...
Now, C1 assigns an input profile to all files - in the case of TIFs it is the "TIF neutral" profile. This profile is the same as the "DNG" and "JPEG" neutral and also the same as the "Color View" and "No Color Correction" profiles. These profiles are smaller than sRGB. In effect colors of the source image exceeding the gamut of the input profile get desaturated.
C1's color management is great for RAW processing. It totally sucks (by design) for viewing/editing TIFs and JPEGs.0 -
Thanks for the comments. Yes, my normal workflow is Nefs to pro photo rgb tiff then edit in photoshop. But I had a bunch of tiffs that I needed to make adjustments to that didn't warrant round-tripping to Photoshop so I thought I would try CO7 instead of going into Lightroom. I would really like to take LR out of the equation altogether but it seems it is still indispensable for it's convenience. 0 -
I just did a test import a tiff in CO, edit and open it in CS6, not a problem.
Now, how are set colors CS6 preferences, is that the profiles are kept, management profiles disabled?
This is where everything is settled! Merci 😄0 -

this way around the workflow should be consistent (it is, if your system is set up correctly). The other way around is the issue - a TIF with large gamut opened in C1 will look desaturated due to C1's design of input profiles (which, again, works extremely well for RAW processing, but actually dosn't work at all for viewing TIFs or JPEGs).

Sorry, it's obviously you're right, I redo the test and rgb data is actually different. And with consistent color settings in both programs. Merci
A small issue ARGB means Adobe rgb well? ❓0 -

personally I don't like LR at all. I do use it, sometimes... but actually I don't like it. My preferred workflow is RAW/C1 (output with camera profile embedded) -> TIF 16bit/Photoshop. Sometimes I do use RAW Developer (lately called "Iridient Developer") as it does a great job on demosaicing and shows a nice "filmic" look for some cameras (even for some Phase One DBs) ... but since version 7 of C1 has been released I use Iridient Developer only for my Panasonic GH2 and Sony RX100 files.

When you tell us what you use LR for maybe we can give advise how to take LR out of the workflow...0 -
Hi Guys
All files and photoshop set to prophoto - prophoto embedded in everything out of photoshop. I don't change it until I export to print jpeg which will either be srgb or Argb (yes Adboe RGB).
I use LR to resize and output sharpen and convert profile to print profile for all smaller prints. That way I can have one master file still in prophoto, from which I can output for any use (For large prints I do all sharpening and conversion in photoshop). It is very convenient, but I am using sessions in CO7 then when I finish a job I can move everything over to an external drive. But using LR as a catalogue mixed with CO7 is messy. I thought about using media pro, but I have given up as it crashes everytime I try it, and it doesn't have the outputting and sharpening facilities of LR.
I would love to know how other people manage their workflow. We do mostly portrait work so everything goes into photoshop.
Cheers
