The larger Pro's are by far the fastest. I've got two, One with 3 GB ram and one with 4 and they're both like greased lightning.

The smaller Pros I think will be only marginally faster.

But, the Pros are much more sturdy.

I own a Powermac G5 with 8GB RAM. A Mac Book Pro with 3GB RAM, and a Mac Pro Quad 2.66 with 8GB RAM. The Mac Book is faster than the Power Mac by about 20%. The Mac Pro is faster than the Mac Book Pro by 20-25%.

The better video card you have the better refresh and quicker view.

In the studio, I use a Mac Mini Dual Core with 2GB RAM and Capture One DB 3.77. I shoot a P21+ back and the refresh is adequate. The Mac Pro would be blister fast.

So are you saying that the processor does actually speed up the capture to preview speed? I have tried both MMP and MP and have not noticed any great difference, but would be interested to know some times if anyone has done any tests? I am shooting a P25+ back into a MBP 2.4 with 3 Gig RAM.
