Capture One 3.77 on Mac Pro vs. Mac Book Pro
Has anyone seen any specs on speed differences between Mac Pro vs. Mac Book Pro's? The biggest consideration is image viewing speeds while shooting tethered. The range of cameras used is primarily EOS 1DS MKII along with P25+ and P30+ backs. I'm not concerned with processing times so much as load image load speeds. If anyone could provide any data on this that would be greatly appreciated!!

The larger Pro's are by far the fastest. I've got two, One with 3 GB ram and one with 4 and they're both like greased lightning.
The smaller Pros I think will be only marginally faster.
But, the Pros are much more sturdy.0 -
I own a Powermac G5 with 8GB RAM. A Mac Book Pro with 3GB RAM, and a Mac Pro Quad 2.66 with 8GB RAM. The Mac Book is faster than the Power Mac by about 20%. The Mac Pro is faster than the Mac Book Pro by 20-25%.
The better video card you have the better refresh and quicker view.
In the studio, I use a Mac Mini Dual Core with 2GB RAM and Capture One DB 3.77. I shoot a P21+ back and the refresh is adequate. The Mac Pro would be blister fast.

So are you saying that the processor does actually speed up the capture to preview speed? I have tried both MMP and MP and have not noticed any great difference, but would be interested to know some times if anyone has done any tests? I am shooting a P25+ back into a MBP 2.4 with 3 Gig RAM. 0
