Open as "Read Only"
Like many others on this forum I have been using iView in its many incarnations and was really looking forward to PHASEOne having a go at it. Alas, so far, I too struggle with getting things to work correctly.
I am running MP on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard
I was able to get it to launch okay but it has been slow and I have had to Force Quit the application many times and reboot just to get moderate response.
In addition my main catalog, which was converted from Expression Media 2, opens with the warning:
I then have to do a save as before I can proceed. This happens every time I launch MP.
Microsoft really botched a good product but I am hoping that PhaseOne will be able to work through this initial series of uglies and make Media Pro what it the best it can be. There really isn't another product on the market that does what this has the potential of doing.
That being said, I would be more than happy to provide feedback for getting this to work correctly and I would also really appreciate some assistance to get past the Force Quit and Read Only issues.

This is usually caused by an unexpected quit while editing a catalogue. EM (and probably MP) creates a hidden name_of_catalogue.ivc_0 (1,2...) zero byte flag file when you open a catalogue. To manage sharing (e.g. on a network volume). Sometimes these files don't get cleaned up properly.
See this thread
You need to make hidden files visible in the finder and delete these files. If you need more help doing this, ask and I will suggest a way to do it.0
