For your first question - no, not possible at the moment.

For you second question ("Why not?") the best chance of an official answer would be to ask the Capture One team by raising a support request case. That way you could expect an official response and at the same time help to provide a level of interest in the idea that can be used by the development team to formulate future development plans. (I suggest that because this forum is intended to be run on a User to User basis and although Phase staff pop in and offer information and assistance quite often there is no guarantee that they will be able to answer such a question if it is posed on an open forum - even as general guidance and discussion. Corporate policy that we should respect I think.)

I agree that it could be a good idea and for the reasons you mention, amongst others. The one downside is that if over played the results can look unnatural but then that is a matter for the 'artiste' not the tool vendor I guess.

I don't find I really need such adjustments often or what I typically shoot so it's not a hot issue as far as I am concerned and I have another application that allows me to make such changes when I really feel the need. In C1 using local adjustments the colour editor is usually enough for my needs and can to some extent substitute for WB so long as I don't have a need for something extreme.

I hope this helps in some way. Personally I would like to see just about all of the editing tools available for use with local adjustments but I think to really make that work the may need a different approach to the methods used to apply adjustments (just a guess based on my limited understanding of the differences in system methods). If so the whole concept takes on a different complexion.

Thank you for your reply, Grant.

I really do think that a WB adjust in the layer mask would be good, so, I will contact the support team.

I agree. I often have images where different light sources create a situation where selective white balance is needed. This capability is now in Lightroom and I use it often. Capture One allows color correction on a layer and this can be an effective alternative.
