1Ds Mk2 Tethering issue

    Hi,

Apparently Canon drops support in their SDK, which is the component for 3rd party developers to implement tethering, for their older cameras. This is not new. The 1Ds mkII was officially not supported since CO 6.0 due to a later SDK then CO 5.2.1, but for many users it still worked.
Since CO 6.4.3 a new SDK is used to support the latest and greatest, but connectivity to older models became extinct.

You could either stick to a previous version of CO 6, keep 6.4.2 in the Applications folder but renamed and stick with 6.4.3 as well, or use the hot folder feature combined with EOS Utility for tethering. Note that you might need an older version of EOS Utility. EOS Utility 2.7.2 is the latest version to officially support the 5D, 1D/1Ds mkII, but 2.8.x might still do the trick. Note that 2.9.x does not work with OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7.x.
