Question about the upcoming Pro release

    Hi
At this time it looks like 4 PRO will follow suit with 4.1.2 with respect to DNG output. Capture One is a RAW processing software and the conversion to DNG is considered a convenience feature, not a main focus. To have a DNG sidecar file be compatible in PS and other softwares would require universal language in conversion settings and is not something easily attained. The whole idea of a DNG, is to be universally read by softwares.  The changes that you make to that DNG are not universal, as it is assumed that the software you open the image in is the software you will use to process to a jpeg or tiff.

Processing to DNG is mostly thought to be used for those who need to convert from other formats into DNG. At this time it is not possible to have the settings file that is created in Capture One to be readable by PS. I would recommend processing to JPG or TIFF if you want the edits to apply when opened in PS.
    Kind Regards
    Rebecca

I agree.. dng is not that important over rated.
I think it is just for people that want to edit in Lightroom or other programs which in a way is competition to C-1.
    Just my opinion.
Better to save them out from photoshop for that.

Eric, you obviously don't get it. The thing is that different programs have different tools and strengths, so if I could save the edits made in C1 to a DNG I could continue working on it in different programs and still have a RAW workflow up until the moment of final edits in photoshop.

I think Eric got it. DNG's not the format for transferring edits between programs.

This is the important thing to consider.. different programs have different protocol for handling adjustment as well as what adjustments are available. Also different programs handle files differently in respect to profiling. Simply put adjustments are not transferable between programs because values will read differently and adjustments may or may not be available.
