Catalog Max size
Unfortunately I don't seem to get any size bigger than 4.2 GB for the catalog.
I was hoping v1.2 would solve that limitation but that was not the case.
In fact you can increase the size of the catalog beyond 4.2 GB, but when you save it, it will get completely corrupted. If you open it you'll get total disorder and nonsense.
A size of 4.2 GB may seem enough for some but I can guarantee you that it's very limited for others, especially if you need to carry it with you, with all previews "on-board".
Anyone any experience so far?
PS I work with Windows 7, 64 bit and don't have any OS limitations on file size

Hmm, a new database limit. Not good!
The old limit (1.8 Gb in Microsoft Expression Media) should be 'solved' but 4.2 Gb is hardly better...
Another limit (128.000 items) is not even solved at all. It is not perhaps by accident that you past that limit?

No, I did not hit the limit by accident. In fact I had hit it before and then cancelled a number of folders. When I came close to that limit again I was hoping it had been fixed...but it's not.
My workaround is to cancel the previews of the older entries, keeping them only for the new ones. This way I still have a full catalog although the older entries need to be online to be viewed.
I must say that I am pretty satisfied with the rest of Media Pro. It's really good, it does almost everything I need.0 -
Oh oh. I'm at 3.3G; and I still have a bunch of older ones offline that need to be rebuilt so I have decent sized media view.
Time to rethink. I guess I will have to keep all the older ones in their own catalog.

But this way you only avoid larger catalog size. Any limit (actually defined by PhaseOne or just experienced in practice) based on the number of images still applies.0 -

Yes, and both limits (128.000 items and/or 4.2 Gb Catalog size) have to be removed by PhaseOne as one of the first things in my opinion.

I gave up and went back to multiple catalogs. You can search multiple catalogs at the same time using the Find feature.
Carrying several small catalogs is just as easy as one large file. In some instances it makes more sense to break up the catalogs.0
