USB Tethered Nikon D700 disconnects after 28sec.
Latest Capture software running latest Snow Leopard on 27' imac.
My Nikon camera disconnects (5m (16ft)USB cable) from the Capture software after 28 Seconds. I switched to another cable and have the same issue. I have switched to a shorter cable and it stays connected. I have been using the same cable for the last 3 years without any problems. Anyone having the same issue??? I also downloaded and installed the previous version of Capture that ran fine with my cables but that didn't seem to work. The kicker is that I upgraded my laptop and it doesn't have that problem. I am wondering if there is a USB power issue on the imac??? Any suggestions would be appreciative.
Thanks,
Mike

iMac's are typically less robust than any other Apple System. I don't know of any documented proof that the iMac's have a power "issue" but from personal experience you can expect less performance from these machines.
Regardless, the issue may just be some hiccup in the PMU or whatever Power Management is in place now. Read the following to get set in the right direction;
