I have this problem too. The importer on version 11 has all sorts of bugs.

I am hitting a similar issue. I thought things were good because, as you said it counted the images correctly, but it only actually imported 12 000 images instead of the 74 000.

I am going to do it again and record the details and open a support case.

If there are images that are tripping things up I will gladly skip them. Hopefully support can help figure out what is wrong and find a workaround while they fix the bug.

Just reporting in that things are working better now. In response to my case the support team suggested that I split up my LR catalogue and import them separately. I am only a quarter of the way through but it is working! Yay.

I store my photos in <year>/<date><job> folder structure so I am spitting off a year at a time (combining some early years where the counts are much lower) and then importing them. So, far my verifying has shown that nothing has been missed and I am plugging away at it.

Collections get imported under <lrcaralogname>/collections... so even though I have many collections that span years they do not conflict and all I have to do is add the newly imported photos from a collection to the new ones I created at the top level in the C1 catalogue.

Clearly being able to handle the big catalogue wold be preferred I can deal with doing this with a bunch of smaller ones as a one time cost.
