Auto Adjust = Night into Day?
Just got round to activating my C1 5 from the EM2 acquisition and have to ask, "what's the story with the auto adjust?"
It works really well with images taken in decent lighting but try it on anything with dark tones and it is simply horrible. Seems to always try to drastically bump up the exposure whenever there are dark tones in an image and then smears it over with massive NR.
I know it is just a start point for edits but surprised people aren't commenting that it is always trying to turn any image taken at night into a daytime shot and then applying huge dose of NR to it.
I guess I am learning the limits of the application and wonder if the new version is better on this aspect.

Any auto adjustment feature works from one or more assumptions or toward preset averages. Special moods like sunset are removed with auto color balance, specific moods like high-key and low-key are often compensated for as well. Night shots are not average in that respect too, hence not well suited for auto adjust features. My 2 cts. 0 -
Thanks for the response.
Indeed, it is as you say ... just that both LR and AP3 which I am trying along with this as I look at alternatives to NX, seem to do a much better job in such situations and are both about $100 cheaper than the PRO version which I would go for if I go for this.
C1 does seem to have very nice skin tones though and I think might be very good for a fashion type shooter in a studio.
AP3 has leapt to top of my list for now ... just need to see how it really fits into my workflow which has been developed, down to many details, around NX.
Will continue to see how each works.
Thanks again.0
