Local adjustment layers

Hello,
I have C1 Pro 6.1.1. 64 bit. Is it possible to make local adjustments so, that I would increase the exposure in one part of the picture and decrease it in some other parts of it. I see there Layer 1 after doing an adjustment, but is it possible to make more adjustment layers to the same photo? Best regards,

  Yes, make more adjustment layers. The adjustments you make in a layer apply to all selected (brushed) areas in that layer.

  Thank you for your answer, Paul.
  I´m still missing the way how to make more than one layer. If I go back to the background layer and try to make some adjustments, they just go to the Layer 1.
