    I suggest that you report this back to support as well.

    From a geek point of view, it would be interesting to know whether the provided solution - remove cards - had worked with CO 11.3 on Mojave as well.

    Hey there,

    I have a Sony A7 III and can't tether with Mac either.
    I use both MacOS X High Sierra last update and Windows 10 (on two separate machines).
    My same camera when tethered with Windows works like a charm, weather with Sony Imaging Edge software or Capture One 11 (and 12).
    But when I plug the camera to my MacBook Pro, the camera back screen just keeps displaying "USB connecting" and MacOS shows a popup box saying I should set my camera usb setting to "Remote PC" and retry, which it is already. And of course, neither Sony Imaging Edge nor C1 can detect the camera.
    I tried to take all the memory cards out of the camera but it doesn't make any difference.
    So I believe it's more an OS issue than a software issue.

    That sounds like a problem with power levels at the USB port.

    However I am no expert in this so beyond that observation I cannot add much except to suggest trying a different cable or two or a powered hub.

    I do know that the point of success or failure on working comms can be a very small variation in power at the port.

    Have reported this back to support, so waiting to hear what they say about this as this wasn't an issue under High Sierra.

    For full 'geek' disclosure, yes, removing the SD cards also fixes the issue with C1 11.3 under Mojave as well, having just tested it. I was previously working under the assumption that this was simply C1 11.3 not supporting Mojave and failed to spot the memory card access lamp being on permanently before. When I spotted this I took first one, then both SD cards out and discovered only with no cards in the camera is the problem rectified.

    Obviously, it shouldn't be necessary to remove the cards for tethered capture, despite C1 not writing to the cards themselves, so still assuming this is a combination of C1 and Mojave. Hopefully, support can investigate further.

    Hi Grant,

    I'm certainly no expert, but the exact same setup, same cable, same SD cards, same camera, same USB port, same MacBook Pro didn't present this issue under High Sierra, so am assuming something has changed in Mojave that is impacting C1 but have no way of checking.

    I recall reading people posting on this forum who had upgraded to Mojave and were having no issues with C1 11.3 tethering though I don't know if that was with or without SD cards in the camera, there were a couple of people however also reporting tethering issues with C1 11.3 and Mojave which is why up until today I'd assumed it was simply that C1 11.3 lacked Mojave support.

    Would be good to hear from anyone using a D750 and other Nikon cameras and running Mojave to see whether they are experiencing similar problems with tethering, with a view to identifying whether this issue is unique to my setup or they experience similar issues, with a view to trying to determine whether it is specific to the D750 or whether it is a Mojave issue that hasn't been picked up.

    I've tried 3 different USB cables. Same result. However, it's true that my PC is a desktop while my Mac is a laptop.
    USB ports may not get same power depending on the end machine.
    However, I need to work tethered on location with my MacBook, and dealing with a powered hub is an additional hassle I'd rather avoid. Plus it used to work before I switched from Canon to Sony, on both of my machines.

    It's a long shot and I know next to nothing about MACs (although ready posts on this forum can be very educating!) but in the spirit of trying to get you to a working solution ASAP - have you checked for any 'enhancements' in the Power Management areas with the OS update?

    I know from experience on a PC with USB 3 ports (Win 7) that the power available (or perhaps not available) can influence whether a self powered external USB3 disc drive awakes from hibernation or not.

    With a 2mtr cable it works. With a 3mtr it does not work. Plugged in to a USB2 port it always works - bit obviously the transfer speeds are not what is possible using USB3. That experience is using a Dell Professional spec. portable workstation.

    Port power on portables can be very marginal. A very very small difference in voltage can be the margin between success and failure.

    I was having a problem with disconnection when using the Sony cable with a USB2 extension. Bought a powered usb 3 hub and a 3m USB3/USB C cable and it worked perfectly without the powered hub. Probably a mix of low data transfer (usb2 ext) and possible interference in the Sony cable as it has a chip/circuits in it.

    I would recommend starting with a good USB C - USB 3/C cable first before buying the HUB.
