Same here, probably you can't upgrade from a Sony version.

Anyone having a problem with this?

I am having a hell of a time.

I got v8 in August 2015 and can't figure out how to update to 9.

    Thanks for the help

    Which Sony version?

What have you done so far?

I had the same problem and could not update sony pro from 8 to 9.So I bought a new license at full price (60€). Perhaps I did a mistake but update from 8 failed every time.

    Hi,

first point worth to mention is that from what I know the installation of the new V9 is totally independant of the V8 still installed (licensed; running) on your machine.

Before I decided to purchase the upgrade to V9 I had downloaded and installed it and compared results and workflow with the still fully installed V8.3.4.

So after purchasing the licence for the new version all I needed to do is to activate it. Since this decision meant that I most probably won't go back to the former version I deactivated this version and then deinstalled it. Since V8 and V9 have different default directories for installation, one could have them both in parallel installed.

When doing the installation of V9 it's possible a major download from Microsoft (latest version of NET) happens before actually the installation of V9 begins. Perhaps there's some problem at this step which prevents proper instalaltion of V9 - which requires latest NET AFAIK.

I can't think that there is anything different going on for an update to the Sony branded version compared to the rest. The update is not so much an update of the existing installation as a full download and install of the a new set of code that will pick most (probably all but it may depend on what you have been tweaking) of the existing versions settings

The only thing required would be a re-activation with t aV9 based key (that should also allow you to run V8 as well if you still have it installed.)

Anyone having problems would be well advised to create a Support Case to get the problems resolved. Doing so may also help Phase to understand the issues or confusions that users are experiencing and so help them to improve the process.

    HTH.
