Catalogue error - content displayed twice
Capture One Pro 11 with latest updates.
Macbook Pro
High Sierra v10.13.2
Hi,
I have a catalogue problem on my Macbook Pro with a large percentage of the folders and image files showing in the catalogue twice. Please see the screen capture attached below for reference.
Green box: The folder structure showing in the green box is correct with "Multimedia" being a storage folder on my NAS drive.
Red box: The structure in the red box is incorrect or in error as this location does not exist. "Multimedia-1" does exist. It seems to be an errant duplicate or alias of the correct folder on the NAS drive as referenced in the Green box above it.
Yellow box: All the information in the yellow box is an exact duplicate of the folders and files in the green box above it.
Deleting files or folders from either the the red or yellow boxes, also deletes the files from the green box. I've tried verifying and repairing the catalogue. I've tried moving the files. I've tried googling for answers. I do not know how to proceed to repair the catalogue. Can anyone help.

Brett,
I think you need to look at what you have in the file structure within the NAS and how your connection to it is set up to work.
Considering backup copies might be interesting, especially if you are using both a MAC sourced backup facility and the C1 internal catalogue backup option.
You probably also have the concept (per user) of a home folder (private) and a shared folder with some items visible in both in some circumstances.
I have no idea what the symbols next to the folders mean for your NAS but I would guess that maybe the box with "people" in it identifies the folder as public and the triangle with ! means either private or not found or at least some sort of problem.
Difficult to know as a newbie to NAS with a different NAS device and working with Windows not MAC but that is where I would start to look to determine what it is that you are seeing.
HTH.

Thanks Grant,
Yes I forgot to give details on the NAS. NAS is a QNAP TS-451. It is networked through a gigabit wifi modem and is accessible via both gigabit wifi and gigabit ethernet. The system is great. I love it. I've used this current set up for about two years or more now trouble free. I always log in as administrator so users and privileges should't be an issue.
The file structure is shown in the screen capture below.

My C1 catalogues are currently not networked or centralised. I have several individual fragmented catalogues spread across and stored on separate desktops and laptops. I am trying to clean up the seperate catalogues at the moment with the hope to merge them into one networked catalogue stored on the NAS drive. Backups are currently stored elsewhere.
I think the folder symbols would be provided by C1, not the NAS or external devices. The triangle with the "!" means the folder is missing or cannot be found.
Thanks again.
Any other ideas?0 -
You may be looking something that is caused by the way the OS mounts your NAS.
Have a look into /Volumes. The OS creates the folders for all mounted drives, network shares, USB drives, etc in there.
When 2 (or more) shares or drives with identical names are attached, or a share is attached twice, the OS adds a number to the additional folder(s), as it cannot create 2 folders with identical names.
If this is the case, you need to get the mount point right before you can fix the catalog content.
Regards,
Hans
EDIT: I could imagine that the OS is confused by attaching the same share with two different ip addresses, one for LAN and one for WLAN. Or with different protocols.0 -

Wild guess, but I believe QNAPs, at least some of them, have a "multiple folders, one share" feature (folder aggregation), and I think some admins get a similar feature using symlinks on the QNAP (Linux system). Both ways are potentially deceptive if you try to learn folder structures at one end of a connection by analyzing path information available at the other end.0 -
Thanks Hans and Odds,
I followed up on all of your ideas.
I have found a work around that seems to be working, but I've lost many many hours trying to resolve this so far. In the end I reverted back to C1 v9 and reopened some backups. I eventually found a way to resolve the NAS folder error and duplicate catalogue entries. I've now re-upgraded that catalogue to v11 and am now cleaning it up further. It seems to be working now. I've had to go back to mid December 17 so I've lost quite a few adjustments etc, but that's better than the alternative.
Fingers crossed. Thank you all.0
