Problem with EOS 350D
Hi,
I've just downloaded Capture Pro (trial), and I'm having a hard time trying to make it show any thumbnails of my EOS 350D RAW files. It shows the JPEG thumnails, but when I click on a folder I've already downloaded from the Camera with RAW files, it shows an empty collection.
I have WIN XP and my Rebel firmware is 1.02.
TIA
Leonardo Dias

I have no problem with my 350D. It is supposed to be your system problem.0 -
Wanted to report that I also use 350D and do not have this problem. A couple things you might want to try though:
-try a completely new raw file only (never opened in by canon software). Some of the canon raw software does modify the original CR2 file. [ i've even had 'canon image task' damage/destroy a CR2 file]
-have any files been modified asset management software (iptc, exif, etc.) to add keywords, etc.
-try reboot / re-install of phase one
-hunt through options for clues
Phase One is the best software I've found to process 350D files, mainly for color quality and second for ease of use. I've tried adobe cs, bibble, rawshooter, canon dpp, and canon image task. Not sure about the phase one quality with other cameras.
However, I have noticed phase one crash a few times on closing the program, but very rarely and have never lost any data.0 -
I've also had great luck with Capture One and CR2s from the 350d. There's some \"quality\" to the resulting images that I find vastly superior to ACR.
However, the DNGs created from the CR2s will not be recognized by C1, and you'll see the results you're reporting. That's the only real C1 \"show stopper\" I've found so far, though.0 -
I don't know whether this will affect you or not, but I have seen reports that the Canon 350D or Rebel XT sometimes loses it's identity - particularly after the firmware upgrade to 1.0.2 - it does seem rare though.
see http://photoshopnews.com/2005/08/20/can ... w-31-issue
If you view the exif data of the image, look at the Camera Model - I have seen it show up as Unknown and this causes some applications to not recognise the format.

Thank you.
U saved my day (though I'll have to wait till next update from canon)0 -
As an update to my last message, the person who was having the problem with their Rebel XT sent it back to Canon and it has now been fixed - the identity has been reinstated.
For the 350D, the problem with the wrong identity is fixed in the latest firmware which is now available - version 1.0.3

Hi,
unfortunately upgrading to 1.03 firmware does not solve my problem of lost ID. My Canon has lost it ID, after going to repair o Canon Factory Services.
After reading about this issue here i contacted Canon and they've sent me the following msg:
Dear Leonardo Dias:
Thank you for contacting Canon product support. We value you as a Canon
customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
This issue will need to be rectified by our factory service center. I
am sorry for any inconvenience.
.....
I live on Brazil and it was hard enough to send my camera back to US, to Canon, and back to Brazil. So, I'm really looking for ways to solve it thru alternative ways. Maybe Canon authorized services here (though my warranty would be void.... What seams pretty unfair, since they've messed uo with my Rebel...)...
