I suggest you start with OpenCL set to Never in the Preferences to see whether this will improve stability.

Regarding the session database error: due to a not normal shutdown of Capture One, the session file (*.col50) has become corrupt. You can discard the session file and create a new one. When you do not use session, hence you always use the default session, discard Capture One.col50 plus the preference file and start Capture One. For exact locations of these files see http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageID=1

You could send crash reports to Phase One in your support case but I assume they will guide you in that.

There seems something in your hardware setup Capture One does not like. I can not copy the behavior in a similar setup.

Thank you Paul for your help. I will set OpenCL to Never as you suggest. In your post you mention "the default session". I heard this term before. Would you please explain that the default session is.

I will report back if changing OpenCL to Never helps the lockup and freezing as I have C1 work to do tomorrow.

    Thanks again.

    Paul -

When I went into the C1 Pro 6.2.1 preferences to make sure OpenCL was set to never, it already said Never but it was also grayed out so I would have been unable to change it anyway.

Capture One always works with a session. If you do not create sessions (CO Pro or DB 6) it will work with the default session as CO Express 6. This may be invisible for or unnoticed by the user and that is fine; just open your image folder from the Library tool and go.

The default session term refers to the folders and session file that Capture One creates on first start. On Windows Vista and 7 you'll find this in the user's Pictures\Capture One Library folder. (the full Win7 name is Libraries > Pictures > My Pictures > Capture One Library)

Here you'll find the default session's session file Capture One.col50. That is the one to delete (CO6 closed) and will be created next time you start CO. (see step 5 in http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageID=1)

Because the CO6 preference file contains information about the last used session, CO6 can be come kind of confused when you delete the last used session file. As a result I suggest to delete the preference file as well as described in the same article in step 5 at the end.

also...although you did'nt report what you are using...perhaps you can check that your GPU driver is current. It is likely not if you installed Win 7 from a DVD...those drivers are updated. Video drivers can impact even database programs, so it's a great idea to install the most current version.
