What is the current thinking on catalogue sizes please?

    My idea for optimal performance, not more then 4K of images per catalog. That`s why I follow 1 catalog - 1 job approach. Which greatly simplifies my file management.
    Migrated 40K catalog from Lighroom and then chop it up. Now everything flies.

    No issues seen yet. When I have a need to I consolidate stuff into xx_MasterCatalog, largest so far has about 15000 entries @ slightly less than 4GB. Note that rsync(1) does not like that kind of huge file 😉

    My master catalog contain 174 031 images and I have no real issues. About 60% are Sony .ARW. The rest .JPG and .TIFF.
    Catalog size 1,9 GB with 240 px thumbs, no previews. All files on local discs.

    Hi Steve

    The limit is 1.000.000 items. There is no limit on the size of the catalog in terms of GB, but we do see that MP becomes very heavy approaching this limit. Let us know if you see any issues.
