    Apparently not.

Although you may hopefully learn that running beta software on production hardware is a bad idea.

As a long-time Apple beta tester, I completely agree with this advice, even if it is cold comfort to the OP.

But this problem, and several other issues that look suspiciously like poor database/catalog management on the part of C1 [random image preview and main image substitutions, for example] are not limited to beta versions of HS. HS 10.13.1 is not beta software. It's production software on [in my case] a "vintage" production machine [Mac Pro 2013], and C1 is simply not being brought up to compatibility. This is past the point where "point-the-finger-at-Apple-beta-testers" is a sufficient answer. HS versions have been available to developers for months.

Yes, I am a new user, and this is my first post, but as the owner of both a Trichro and Achro, I expected C1 to be a little more impressive. C1 is billed as superior to Adobe products; right now, it isn't. Very simple. Production machine or not [I am not a pro, so my livelihood does not depend on avoidance of these problems], users should not be asked to deprecate a production OS to an earlier version just for the benefit of one software house.

As a Windows user it concerns me that Microsoft seem to be adopting the same approach as Apple for thier development activities.

I really don't see why a monolithic organisation with a monopoly market position should be given a free pass for failing to offer options for backwards compatibility.

Moreover if they are taking it upon themselves to push their products to users - as Microsoft do and Apple seemingly fails to discourage - they should make if very clear about what works and what does not work and where problems may arise.

That clarity - and a commitment for continuity of beta testing product content (or postponement of release if the content needs to be removed) should be provided to developers and users alike.

As I recall we have had hurried releases fixing problems that were clearly not effectively developed or tested (if they were there would be no need for rushed fixes) from both Apple and MS in very recent times. That suggests that no matter how much resource one might have expended in redeveloping products using alpha and beta versions of the new code there was a chance the work would fail anyway (or need a delayed roll out) because the released content was faulty.

I personally don't think that is acceptable at their scale of operation. Not at the point of general release.

I also suspect it is very poor PR although it may take a while for a wide base of consumers to become fully aware of how it affects them. So the majors may get away with the process for some time yet. That may not turn out to be good for them long term.

I don't think the "for one software house" comment would prove to be correct if investigated.

Does C1 10.2.1 fix this issue?

We do not support beta releases for any OS, as they are still subject to change from their developers .
