Replicate Folder Changes in Finder

Hi guys
I hope someone knows the answer to an issue I am experiencing with my folder structure:
I am storing my image files in a folder structure on an attached harddrive in a YYYY/MM/DD structure. Apparently Capture One sees some of this but not reliably all and I cannot figure out a pattern. Also when I move pictures or folders via the Library, this does not get replicated in my Finder structure - and again I cannot see a pattern.
I want to tidy up my folder structure because on the original import from Aperture through the C1 importer, my import recipe mistakenly used the file creation dates rather than the image dates to build the folder structure. So now I got to move a whole lot of shots around and would like to do it directly through the library but need to be able to trust that changes there are being replicated in the finder structure, too...
Any hints?

    I CaptureOne doesn't see an image file in some folder, it is likely because none of the images are connected to that image file.

    If the image is in the CaptureOne catalog, these senarios are possible:
    1) The image in the catalog is connected to an image file stored in the catalog (managed image)
    2)The image in the catalog is not connected to nay image file
    3) The image in the catalog is connected to a different image file (in another folder)

    A simple test to decide what is happening would be to choose one of the image files that is in the catalog, but not visible in the folder part of the library.

    Search for the name of this image in CaptureOne using the advanced find menu.

    Notice if there is a little grey "question mark" badge on the image - if there is, it means that Capture one cannot find the file - this is scenario 2 above.

    If not , select the image and right click it. The following options which should be present but may be grayed out (unaccessible): "Show in Library" and "Show in FInder"

    If both are grayed out, then the image file is in the Catalog - scenario 1 above. You should be able to see it if you click on "In Catalog" in the COP Library.

    If "Show in Funder" is accessible, click on it. This should bring up the finder window with the image file highlighted. This is the file CaptureOne connects the image. If this is not the same image file as you started with, then you have scenario 3 above.

    I would repeat this with a handful of images in different OSX folders to understand the pattern.

    If it turns out you have some images where CaptureOne has lost track of the image file, you may have many, and you may want to find them all. I have an Applescript posted elsewhere that will check your entire catalog and identify all the images with no connected files.

    The image files are not in the C1 catalog but stored in a Finder structure which is shown in C1 Library. This folder structure as it's shown in the C1 Library is not complete (compared to what I see in Finder) and if I make changes to the folder names or if I delete/move files via the C1 Library, these changes do not get replicated in the Mac OS Finder. This worries me and I thought I may have missed a trick there... Any ideas?
