Cropping without cropping?
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping this has been resolved because it's extremely bizarre.
I've worked with C1 for a year now almost exclusively, so feel relatively familiar.
I'm working with some Canon 5DSR files in C1, 12.1.1, and for some reason as I'm in a folder (sessions), images are previewing in the browser, then in the viewer as having a crop mask. When I try and "reset" mask, it acts like it doesn't know it's wrong...and then I have to hit crop tool, and manually adjust each side. It's beyond annoying as it seems to be doing it to my entire folder structure whenever I go into the folder it sort of crops images.
It's never done this, I don't use "auto correct" or things like that, and just in case, I took off the crop part of that.
So bizarre, and it makes me individually adjust or create one, copy over to clipboard and paste to all images. Which is of course, annoying when you have some rotation and stuff involved!
Anyone else having this problem/bug?

is this what you are describing the result of auto lens correction? Find an image where this is a problem, go t the lens tab and reduce the distortion slider to zero. If that cloches it, then it is because on import Capture One is automatically applying lens corrections to deal with distortion (barrel, pincushion etc). This is probably a good thing, but if you don't like it you can turn it off. In the Lens Correction tool, click the ... and check to select Disable Default Lens Correction. (It will only have an effect on future imports, not images already in Capture One.)

Normal lens correction behavior. With zoom lenses this is typical when the lens is set to the wide angle end of the zoom range. 0 -
Thanks, this was the issue Ian! I wonder how it suddenly started this? I also wonder since I use Sessions, what will happen when I go preview other folders? [quote="Ian3" wrote:

It only automatically applies this on import, if you haven’t disabled it. Just looking at images already imported won’t apply it if it wasn’t applied already. You could remove the correction from all existing images if you want to. But I wouldn’t - the correction is there for a reason (because there is distortion). I leave it on and only mess with it if the correction is cutting off part of the image that I absolutely must get back (perhaps because my lens wasn’t quite wide-angle enough to fit everything in).
