Tabbing Through Tool Adjustments
Greetings,
Dumb question:
I think I am unintentionally hitting a shortcut key while tabbing through the Tool Tab features that engages the sliders as well as the numeric value box. Normally, I can tab, in the Exposure tool for example, between the Brightness and Saturation numeric boxes, but when this "other" feature is engaged the tab key enables the sliders as well. When the "other" setting is engaged there is a blue stroke that outlines the sliders (or whatever other adjustment you tab through).
Does anyone know what causes this?
Attached is a screenshot of what I'm talking about:

Wow, how did you do that!? 😂
No serious, I don't have a clue. Does a program restart reset the situation?0 -
Ha! I have no idea how I did it.
It's convenient in that it toggles through all the available options (Auto Adjust, Local Copy, Reset, etc.), but it's frustrating when I unknowingly engage the feature as it increases in increments of 5 where the normal way increases in increments of 1.
I searched the manual and tried obvious keystrokes (CTRL, Option, Apple, etc.) but can't figure out how I'm turning it off and on? Program restart doesn't change it.0 -
So it retains the setting after a restart. Can you get rid of it by reloading your workspace (Windows menu)? Other options: create new session or remove default session (I do not expect this to be a remedy). Remove preference file (should probably reset the feature). 0 -
Although I do not recall the exact location, the function is an option in your OS Keyboard Options. If you open up that preference panel in System Preferences and set your Keyboard back to Default that function will go away. If you want to add that into your workflow, well that will take some trial and error on your part 😉 0 -
Thanks Drew, I found the Keyboard Option reset default feature.
This happened while I was using a computer at a studio and didn't see your reply until after we wrapped. I'm back on my machine and, of course, it's not happening now. At least I know remedy. All I need to do is figure out how it happens in the first place. 😕 Too fast with the shortcut keys...
Thanks for the troubleshooting Paul, and by the way resetting the workspace didn't resolve the problem.0 -

Good to hear it did not work. 😉 Which I now understand thanks to Drew's note. I looked into the Keyboard Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard & Mouse preferences and learned another few interesting shortcuts on the job. Thank you.0 -
cmd + F5.
Its part of the VoiceOver feature of universal access in the preferences options built into the OS.
By any chance do you not have sound on your Mac?0 -

Gareth,
This is a separate feature from VoiceOver and Universal Access, which puts a black box round your selection and not a Blue.
In regard to getting this back, it's in the Keyboard settings. Using the simple "All Controls" option shown below you can get this to work, however it does seem to take some incessant Tabbing or serious finesse.

Damn, Drew beat me to it. I found the "all controls" button this morning.
Strange, I don't think I could have accidentally hit cmd+F7 to engage All Controls. But for the life of me I can't think of what else I could be doing to randomly turn this on. Now that I know how to turn it off, I am grateful.
Thank you!0
