Working with Lightroom AND Capture 1 v5
Hi,
I'm sorry, if this may have been asked already in the past, however, I did not find any proper answer to my question.
Currently I'm evaluatin new ways to improve my workflow. Until now it only consisted only of Lightroom V2. I also tried to get DxO Optics Pro running on my Mac, they way how it installs the trial version is so weird, that I simply removed it and won't like to get in touch with it anymore.
C1 seems to be a bit better in RAW imaging, however, it misses the cataloging function. This is why I'd like to keep my LR catalog and do tagging, etc. with it. My question now is, how I could get C1 into my workflow, how does it work together with LR? As I already read, C1 uses its own "database", consisting of flat files for each image, if I'm not wrong. But how do I get it running with the LR database, is there a way? What about those .xmp sidecar files, can those be read by C1?
Sorry for this newb questions, but C1 is really new to me.
Regards, Thomas

Hi,
I may be incorrect, but LR writes data within in its own catalogue and C1 does the same.
They do not read each other's catalogue.

I am new to c-1 pro so take what I do with a grain of salt.
I shoot with Nikon fx cameras-I as yet do not teeter.
I still download immediately from my cf card to lr2, and catalog.
I then go to c-1 pro v5.1, use the c-1 browser and bring the files into c-1 for processing.
I have sit up a folder on the desktop that I out put to(if that is the correct c-1 term) and then import those files into Lr2. Everything that has been done in C-1 Pro seems to output into LR2.
The raw file has never been touched. I now in LR2 have two thumbnails of each image file.
One with the original LR2 import from my CF card. The second thumbnail from the c-1 output-import into LR2. They sat side by side and you can immediately tell which is which.
Switching between c-1 and LR2 comparing the c-1 converted image in both programs the files look identical to me. Of course the second thumbnail that was converted with lr2 looks sad sitting next to the c-1 converted image.
Anybody who tries this please let me know your results.
