feature request: sort by Set

I personally do not see a need for sorting by Catalog Sets because a Catalog Set is not a unique property. For example, a single image could belong to eight different Catalog Sets; by which of these eight Catalog Sets should MP sort the image? Yes, the sort feature does currently allow sorting by a few non-unique properties (e.g., People, Keywords, Category), and sorts images by the first (alphabetical) item in those fields, but I never have sorted by these fields; it's easier (and more useful, I think) to simply use the Organize panel to find images annotated with those fields (especially if an image has more than one person, keyword, or category). For Catalog Sets, it's helpful to manually keep your sets arranged alphabetically.

    Hi RSA,

While I agree with syncrasy's point, you can indeed sort by catalog set this way:

    Go to List View
Right click on the top row where the headers are displaying the field names ("File Name" "Type" "Path Name" - whatever your View was set to show)
Select Catalog Sets in the dropdown (it shows up about 7 from the top of the list for me)

Now Catalog Sets will display as a column in your list. You might have to un-check some of the other columns to get it to appear, depending on the width of your screen.

Clicking on the header row near the field name Catalog Sets will sort your list by that field. You can click to toggle ascending or descending sort.

Note the sort works alphabetically by whatever data is in the Catalog Set field. So if you add a file to multiple catalog sets, it will sort by whatever set you added it to first. So even if two files are in the exact same multiple catalog sets, they may not sort together, if you added them to the sets in different orders from each other (sorry, I'm not explaining that very well) That limits the functionality a bit, but there are scenarios where I still find it useful.
