migration questions

I am in the process of updating from OS 10.8.x to 10.9.5 mostly so I can run Capture 8 (there is nothing else I want in 10.9.x). I have several questions:

Installation related:

1) I can just install 8 alongside 7 initially, right, and nothing will happen to my libraries until I import them? I have NOT installed 8 yet because I am not yet on 10.9.x

Security related:

2) As a very new user, I got a direct download link for CO8 in my email. Is there an easy way to verify the download (like a SHA signature?

3) I noticed an odd folder in my home directory library while that seem to be related to Capture One 7 called "Eqatec Analyticals". It contains 3 binaries. What is this? Is it dangerous? Can I delete it?

  Yes, you can have both CO7 and CO8 installed, and sessions, catalogs, adjustments will not be affected as long you do not have opened them in CO8.

  You can download CO8 directly from the Phase One website:
  http://www.phaseone.com/Downloads.aspx
  
  The folder "EQUATEC Analytics" seems to store information about the use of Capture One. I have no information about it but consider it harmless. You can delete it if you like, it will probably be created again when you start Capture One.
