Informations in XMP-Files from other programs
Hy,
i'm doing some tests using other programs for managing my photos. These programs are writing XMP-Files to store the information i'm adding to the pictures (IPTC-Tags, additional Exif-Data, Ratings or color-tags).
When these programs especially writing the ratings to the XMP-Files (1-5) C1 cannot read them from all programs.
The ratings of PhotoMechanic are taken in C1 but not the ratings from ACDSee or FastPictureViewer.

Interesting. I primarily am using Media Pro, supplemented by Lightroom.
With the newest Media Pro and CO 7, I am now able to communicate reasonably well between Lightroom and CO & MP.
I can send the ratings and key words back and forth, and some of the labels. Note that even CO and MP don't communicate color labels perfectly yet.0 -
Hy Jim,
yesterday i compared the XMP-Files written by PhotoMechanic and by ACDSee.
The ratingtag in the XMP-File of PhotoMechanic has the following syntax which C1 can read and interpret:xmp:Rating="5"
The ratingtag in the XMP-File of ACDSee has the following syntax which C1 can not understand and interpret:<xmp:Rating>5</xmp:Rating>
What is the difference an is there no standard for XMP-Files?0 -

In the latest release of Media Pro, the release notes say
For existing users of Media Pro, please change the default IPTC mapping Preferences
to 'IPTC Core' to improve workflow between MP and 3rd party apps.
I did that, and CO and MP communicate better now.
Because they also communicate well with LR, I assume that they use the same format, which implies some sort of standard.0 -
No one with additional Information for XMP?
I just tried Zoner Photo Studio and the Syntax is different to all I have seen in the last weeks:<xap:Rating>5</xap:Rating>
<xap:Label>Red</xap:Label>
Is there no way that C1 can read an use these Informations from the XMP-Files?0 -
Label yes (standard), color tag no (no standard) 0
