Tethered shot from Canon 1Ds dodgy
Did my shoot as described:

Last week, shooting tethered from my desktop, all was perfect. Today, shooting tethered firing from the camera, I encountered frequent issues. Images stopped coming in, had to reboot, just the first few images would come in, then no more. Portrait session was pretty much plagued by this. Never got a good run of shots as a result.

John, just for the record. Do you use the first 1Ds or one of the later mkII or mkIII models? The first model is not supported for tethered shooting with CO4 or 5 Pro. 0 -
Original 1Ds (MKI). I did'nt know it was not supported for tethered shooting. 0 -

You can always check the release notes to be sure. Canon dropped 1Ds/1D (mkI) support from the Software Development Kit, which leaves 3rd party developers empty handed. That said, besides from Canon software (EOS Utility, formerly known as EOS Capture), there might be a workaround like the one Phase One recently published for Nikon D2X (same problem, not in Nikon SDK anymore). Do a search for D2X here or in the CO4+5/Win forum to get an idea.
Last note: EOS Utility might not yet be compatible with Snow Leopard. Update expected Q1/2010.0
