Hot Folder - what's the point?

i do own a camera which is not supported by CO natively for tethering. so i thought (and believed the phase one claims) i could make up for it using hot folder. the whole point though would be to also use the "next capture" function in combination with the capture pilot remote viewing and rating functionality. bad luck - what comes in and is provided to my clients is the raw version - not that nice contrasty b/w headshot i'm shooting - since none of the next capture functions would apply..... at least it is advancing to the latest shot.... well thanks....

so - what's the friggin point of the hot folder then?

would anyone know of alternatives to have remote viewing/rating enabled from within lightroom?
