No help from Support - Media Pro SE absolutely unstable
Also i've created some cases for support, none of PhaseOne even cares about the bugs! Tried to contact german support, facebook etc. but no reply since one week. What a support...

240877 >> Program freeze on folder upadte! REPRODUCABLE!
241255 >> Deleted files in folders will not be updated with right clicking into the folder structure panel > update folder. the deleted files will still be present in Media Pro SE!
The whole Media Pro SE is absolutely unstable and doesn't work with OSX 10.11.
Does anyone know if there is somebody working at the PhaseOne support? Couldn't find any email or other contact information. Maybe the support on the website is broken?

I can provide an answer on the question of deleted files still showing up. I am fairly new to Media Pro, but I have found that if you right click a folder and get it to update MP adds in new images that have been added to that folder, but doesn't remove ones that have been deleted. (I believe this is by design.) However, here is what I have worked out to do.
Select all the images that MP shows in the folder in question. Then in the Find menu choose Find missing Items. MP will identify which images that are no longer on the disk, and then offer you the opportunity to remove them from the catalogue. (You could get it to do the whole catalogue, but that might be a longwinded process.)

To avoid this problem, make sure you delete files from within Media Pro, not from a Mac Finder window.0 -
The "work arounds" do not fit to a program costing 260 Euro. I want to use the program as it is. If there is an option to update folders, i want it to update folders. It's quite simple. And this update means delete outdated files as well as recognize new files. Why do they launch updates with additional costs and not care about bugs?
The way to only delete folders from within Media Pro is no solution, as professional workflows are not fixed to MPSE only. So this "photo managment program" has to cope with workflows including processes outside of it.
Anyway former releases on former OS did not show this odd behaviour.
Tanks for your reply0 -
I think that one of the reasons for the behaviour of not removing deleted images from the catalogue is the possibility that they are not deleted, just moved. As well as the option to remove "missing" files from the catalogue, there is the option to locate them.
But I agree with you that I would not want to do all my moving and deleting of files from within MP.
The Find missing files tool is quite quick and easy to use, even if you think you would like the app designed differently.

Hi Ian,
thanks for your answer, and i will use this function in the future. Actually, as i wrote within special circumstances the program offers the possibility to update in the way i mentioned. It's when you activate "Auto update" in general and again for a special folder. If you right click on this folder afterwards, sometimes - and this is the wired thing as only sometimes - you get a dialogue with three buttons and when you hit "update", all outdated files will be removed from MPSE.
So it seems still more like a bug and not like a feature as you thought.0 -
As I wrote in the other thread...
The behavior is normal, as designed. As I understand it, Media Pro follows the same protocols used by all "referenced" asset management software. A catalog with referenced assets requires that you manage your files from within the catalog so the catalog knows where they are. If you delete or move the files outside of the software, then the software will warn you that it can't find the reference. That's perfectly normal, and very useful, in case you deleted or moved the files accidentally (and explains why the "Find missing items" feature is there).0
