Capture One 4 RAW won't recognize D700 NEF files
Hi all,
This is my first post in the Phase One forums. I have Capture One 4 RAW version 4.0.1
I just obtained a Nikon D700 DSLR and have tried to open the RAW files produced by this capture device. Capture One will not open them or even recognize them. I have been shooting with a Nikon D300 for a while and Capture One processes its RAW files (nikon native NEF) just fine. I absolutely love the Phase One 4 RAW software and the control it allows me in my digital workflow. Does anyone have any idea why Capture One will not recognize RAW files from my new Nikon D700 camera? Hopefully it is something simple that I am overlooking.
Mac Pro 2.8 GHz OS 10.5.7
Thanks in advance for any input.
Best,
Dennis

Your camera is of a later date than your version of Capture One. It is common that raw converters support existing but not future models. 😉
CO4 has come a long way since its earliest release. Download and install the latest and greatest and you're on the ball again.0 -
Paul,
Thanks so much for your input. Very much appreciated. It never even occurred to me to download the latest version of Capture One. I went to VersionTracker and downloaded version 4.8.1, installed it and, as you said......I'm back on the ball.
Do you know the difference between C1 Pro and C1 DB? I would also like to eventually be able to shoot tethered to my laptop or a desktop computer with my Nikon gear. I hear that this is a possibility with C1 Pro. Any thoughts?
Thanks again.
Best,

Dennis, you are correct. With CO 4.x (standard, no suffix) you can adjust your Nikon files. With 4.x Pro you can also shoot tethered. 4.x DB is a free license but does support Phase One data backs only, not DSLRs. Have a nice ball game.0
