Mac App Store and Capture One
Hello
Is there any chance to buy (soon) Capture One from Mac App Store?
That would be great!
Thanks,
C.

Hi
could you explain why it should be better?
To get more customers? hmmm… maybe!0 -
Yes, a lot lot more customers, I guess.
By the way, Apple Aperture has a slashed price of about 63 Euros, instead of about 200 (formerly CD packed copy).
Somethings Big is happening (in my opinion) with this App Store.
Until now Lightroom and Aperture were pretty much evenly matched (price wise)
With Capture One not too far off.
I'm not arguing about the qualities and downsides of these three programs, but right at this moment I consider Aperture has by far the best quality/price ratio.
I use Aperture AND Capture One, I'm not intending to drop any of them, but my guess is that Adobe and Phase One are, at this right moment, a bit on the wrong foot.
Just IMHO0 -

Or perhaps Aperture is getting killed by lightroom, and Apple is trying desperately to attract customers. Or perhaps a major upgrade is imminent, and they are trying to suck in new users at the end of a product cycle. Whatever the case, it's all about marketing. If Aperture's price reduction sticks, it may force the competition to follow suit.

I do not see the benefit of the app store for the type of application that C1Pro is. Professionals who use or need it know where it is. Maybe the express version for curious new users but I dont want to rely on Apple's IOS-like system to update my profesional software. Especially since C1Pro's updates (since V4 started) are usually problematic in some way I definitely do not want automatic updates before I can see what's working and what's not.
I do not think big companies like Microsoft and Adobe are going to give apple 30% of the sale by using the app store and I don't think Phase One should either. Also I briefly browsed the store and found the selection and layout underwhelming. Mostly junk iphone-like apps making it hard to find quality. Like the iOS app store its a way for people to make money whether or not they can make a good useful program. Plus really useful ones like Pathfinder, Postbox, Adium won't be on there b/c they replicate Mac OS apps.0 -
