White balance tool displays nothing for .nef files?
I have some .nef files from a friend's Nikon D40x. As expected, Capture One 5.1.1 (Pro) opens them and displays them without problems. However, the White Balance tool doesn't seem to work fully on these files.
- It displays zero for both the Kelvin and Tint values. I cannot set either value, and the sliders seem to have no effect.
- Automatically adjusting the white balance works, as does using the "pick white balance" tool.
- Picking one of the modes (incadescent, flourescent, etc.) also seems to work.
The image I see by default for these files seems to correspond to whatever white balance values were stored by the camera, so Capture One appears to at least be reading correctly the data in the files. The problem is that I can't seem to make any edits to the white balance.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm under the impression that the D40x is supported by Capture One, so I'm curious as to what's happening here.

I don't happen to have a D40x NEF file available to test, but could it be related perhaps to NEF compression setting in the camera? 0 -
Hard to say without a specific file, as Paul indicated. I would create a support case and provide a file. It simply be the tool as well, you can close it and then reload it to see. 0
