Import / Catalog Display Questions
I'm on my second trial of Capture One - I tried 9.0, and now 9.1
I really want to like this software - it seems like a better RAW converter.
But I continue to have questions about the DAM portion of the product.
And now I'm finding the lack of documentation to be challenging - if not frustrating.
I'm trying to import my images into Capture One Pro - in the same folder hierarchy as they are on my machine.
But the Libray lists folders in the list in the order in which they were imported, NOT in alphabetical order.
Can this be changed?
Can I make the Library Order match the Finder (sorted) display?
(I name folders with date first so they automatically sort in chronological order.)
Also, there's a section of the import dialog called "Import To".
It has a choice called "Collection".
But I can't find any documentation that tells me what that means.
And what's the difference between "Recent Imports Only", "Capture Collection", and "Selected Album"?
In fact, I can't find any resource that describes the Import dialog - part by part.
The online help at Phase One is woefully incomplete and quite disappointing.
It doesn't even mention this field in its treatment of the Import dialog.
Anyone know where to find this kind of information?
Is there a source of thorough user documentation for Capture One Pro that I'm missing?
Thanks!

The "Sort by name" option in CO 9.1 is buggy. This has been reported to PhaseOne and a 9.1.1 version is expected shortly.

"Recent Imports Only" = the imported pictures will only be listed in the "All Images" and "Recent Imports" sections of the Library tool.
"Capture Collection" = they will be listed in the Capture Collection as well (I guess this only makes sense when shooting tethered).
"Selected Album" = they will also be listed in the user album you selected before clicking on "Import".
In fact, I can't find any resource that describes the Import dialog - part by part.
You should try and click on the small question mark icons in the top-right corner of all the tools, if you haven't yet.0 -

The online help really sucks, no news here.
BUT...what you are missing are the excellent online webinars and tutorials by Phase One on their YouTube Channel.
Here is the Webinar archive for Version 8, which is relatively comprehensive:

Most of the basics esp. around library organisation are the same for the current version 9.
The Webinars for Version 9 are listed here (still small in number, but growing):

I HIGHLY recommend to everyone starting with C1 to watch these. Even if the topic is about something completely else, like editing, you'll always pick up a few little tips here and there on working more efficiently with C1 in general. They are great to watch in my opinion.0 -

I second that. I learned a lot about Capture One by watching these videos. David "As Such" Grover is a very good teacher. 😊0 -
Does anyone know how to get the folders in the catalog to sort alphabetically?

This feature is buggy in 9.1. A 9.1.1 release is expected shortly.0
