MAC OS 10.8.2 capture one
I am using a mac 10.8.2 and a canon eos 5d mk11. Shooting tethered.
Had all of the issues with COP that you can find here.. and some more!!
Tried 7.01/02 with the eos SDK work around but to no avail. Bugs galore and constant crashing. And for the first time since shooting tethered (8 years), I lost images.
Currently using COP 6.4.2, but this is FAR from stable. Even when editing images (with no camera attached), COP crashes.
Surely this can not be due to the Canon driver issue, this has to be a COP on the 10.8.2 issue.. I am at a real loss as what to do. Have a big job on the horizon, and again am stressing if this system will work.
I have a few days to fix this, and if not possible its onto Adobe Bridge or lightroom after 5 years of COP..
HELP.. please!

You mentioned that you used 7.0.2 but that version has the new Canon SDK to support tethered operation.
If you find issue with this version there is likely more at play here, please create a support case and let's have a look into what may be causing the issue.
From the release notes for Capture One 7.0.2;

I'm also finding problems with tethering.
I did the SDK workaround with 7.0.1 and that improved things, BUT i still had problems and although I didn't need to do the SDK trick with 7.0.2, i STILL have problems getting (and keeping) the software talking to the camera (5D mk2).
At the moment, the main issue is that if the camera powers off, I have to restart the CO7 to get it to reconnect. Sometimes, CO7 just see the camera initially. In both cases i get a dialog box that reads: "Attach Camera - The camera could not be attached."
I had similar issues with CO6 too. I've had no problems using EOS Utility.0 -

A limitation of the Canon SDK I am afraid. Also outlined in our release notes;

Hello Drew,
Thanks, indeed I did the work around with the 0.1, not 0.2.
My main issue with 0.2 was in unable to process images, and if I rotated or cropped an image the system would crash.
I am now working with 6.4.2, if I delete my COP preferences, all seems to run smoothly. Perhaps I just need to do this on a weekly basis? FYI I did indeed open a support case.
Thanks0 -

That should not be necessary at all.
The support case we have is from last month, the 10th of December. We offered a possible solution but have not heard back. If you could follow up with that case we would be happy to continue looking into your concerns.0 -
hi guys,
i'm having problems too.
i set up a mac air with 10.6.8 c1 7.0.2 and tethered a canon 1dx, all good.
i tried to the same with a mbp 15" no retina quad core os 10.8.3 and c1 7.0.2, the camera doesn't appear; i tried the same with a nikon d700 and everything worked out right: any idea please?
i read drew's post and it seems that sdk from canon is still not at its possible best.
i'm thinking to do a partition with os 10.7 for canon, can i use the same c1 license? (i already have a mbp 17" with the same c1 license active)
thanks a lot folks!0 -

Nor should it.
10.8.3 is not supported as it is still in Beta from Apple.0 -
thanks drew,
i have to check update options in this mac: i use to refer to capture integration before to update but this new os is a damnation (and with the new mac you can't down downgrade!)
hopefully this os will be definitive soon...
...if i do a partition with 10.7 will i use the same license ? i already have the second activation on another mbp0 -

Certainly. You may need to reset the Key and reactivate but as it's your key it's welcome on two machines as you see fit.

sorry drew,
i have mbp 1 with a c1 license
mbp 2 with the second license, if i do a partition on this i thought that maybe it would be a third license, if is not, better!!0 -
I understand but the presumption is that you're not going to be running Capture One at the same time, on the same hard drive from both partitions. 😉
As such, just activate/deactivate on the partition you need to use it on.0 -
right, thanks again drew.
in order to install a partition any suggestions about wich ios would be better?
on that i'll run c1 6 to shoot canon 1ds mkIII and 5d mkII tethered0 -
i'm going to do a partition anyway but i checked my os: is 10.8.2 and not 3, i don't know why i wrote this below

so i don't know why is still having problems c17 with canon 1dx
about partition i checked that the best is 10.7.4 with c1 6.4.3 to work with nikon d4, d800
and canon 1ds mk III and 5d mk II.
thanks again for all and sorry for my mistake!0
