For me exactly the same. Bought C1 Pro 7 on July 3rd, and since July 17th (after the update) I had a persitent crashing C1 Pro. This bug is still under investigation by Phase One, but not solved.

Now they are expecting to upgrade to v8, since they think 1 month is a graceful period... and the 50% cut-off justifies it.

Well I like C1 Pro, but the commercial habits... are not customer friendly (mildly put).

Lets wait for OSX 10.10 and see the new photo software. Aperture was open (allowed plug-ins) and provide regular updates and upgrades whiteout additional charge.

One other thing, I do miss a proper manually where attention has been paid for. In stead of a PDF from the HTML pages.

Well, I guess you are getting a wrong impression of Phase One's business habits. I can understand your feelings, but it's more or less a matter of bad timing for you. I am a C1 customer for about 8 years. Most updates and upgrades were free - I can just remember two paid upgrades during this time. So after all they charge a lot less than Adobe for a way better software.

What kind of issues with cloning and healing do you have? I have made lots of tests and it works like a charm.

all authors competitors programs using one tach for many places works in one layer " flexible"
in C8 you have to make many triad brush Layer to get a end result, the worst case is one you retry the procedures brush one a correction aria. 🤓 the result ist terrible

I totally agree. This is too expensive to keep up.

I purchased the software because I found a good promotion, however, not it is outdated.

It looks that they did not use good faith while moving a giant campaign for Aperture users, knowing that they would sell another software in one month.

I feel tricked. I tried many times get the free upgrade or money back but I was few days longer then 1 month customer so no go.

    Excuse me?

You're using a Mac, which isn't cheap by any means. I can afford one, but certainly not justify one. I'm yet to be convinced that the doubling of cost over a better-spec'd Windows machine holds any advantage as far as creative applications is concerned. Since you're interested in C1, I very much doubt you're using a cheap point-and-shoot, so it looks like a classic case of one of the most important, cheap and creative aspects of your hobby/business - the processing software - being grossly undervalued. If you seriously think about what C1 gives you in comparison with the costs and limitations of buying and developing even your own B/W film, it's a bargain, whatever the cost.

    Best

Missing the point Neil. Do respond if you have nothing to add.

NN635376886096228908UL is right. They jumped into a promotion after Apple announce stopping with Aperture. They want to make a profit on this (which is commercially viable, but tell us it is only valuable for 2 months).

C1 is fully aware of there development project and update/upgrade programme. It is a bad habit in case you promote software while you know it will be replaced soon. Sequently they justify that the promotion price plus upgrade price is cheaper than the full price. It is true but it feels dirty. Paying a price is not bad, so far I agree, but this has nothing to do with the fairness of the price, it has to do with transparency and customer relation.

And BTW, since july 17th (less than 2 weeks after purchase) I'm waiting for a bug to solved that prevent me from importing photos in an existing catelog. So far for software quality, and customer support.

Enjoy your 8 year experience, Karsten32

    +1

...and the better speed of V8 has already amortized my investment.
