Program size: 819 MB! massive slowdown.
I downloaded and installed V.3.7 Pro over my existing V3.6 Pro.
Then I noticed a vast slowdown in processing speed. Went
from 28 seconds to 75 seconds per image. I'm in Win XP
with a Pentium 4, 3.0 ghz and have 2 gigs of RAM.
When I went to Add/Remove programs to do a fresh install,
I noticed that the size of V3.7 was a whopping 515 mb. Then
I did a repair, and the size increased to 819 mb. At this
point I decided to uninstall completely. Of course,
the V3.6 I now use is actually (I think) 3.7, the info shows
3.7, etc. It seems to work. And the speed is back down to
28 seconds. I had read in a below thread that the color noise
suppression settings could affect speed. But not by that much!
So, I'm not really sure which version I\"m running, or whether
to reinstall the program, which, btw, in its folder, looks
to be a normal 46 mb folder.
any enlightenment would be appreciated.
thanks

If you look in size in add/remove programs this is based of the folder size in c:\\program files\\phase one\\Capture One Pro
Here you have a sub folder called \"Previews\" where all your previews are located, the previews can be managed in Capture One under File->preferences-> Preview cache
While you are in your preferences check Save options as well where you can gain prefomance if you adjust this to your workflow.0 -
Okay, I understand that the add/remove programs is reading
the contents of my preview cache as well as everything else,
leading to considerable bloat. But how can I improve performance,
other than cleaning out my cache? i have it set to clean up
every four days. hmmm. I wonder if every open/close of the
program adds the same previews to the cache? So if I
open/close three or four times, I could end up with a considerable
cache. Okay, I'll experiment. I did reinstall the program
and gained a lot of speed. But I\"ve noticed it slowing down again.
Maybe this is what it's about.
Thanks

Program does not make duplicate preview files when opening and closing.
My best guess is that you have a Antivirus software that does On-Access monitoring which means that everytime Capture One reads and writes in files the On-Access scanner goes in between and causing double or triple access times.0
