Can't batch process with Capture One Pro 4.8!!!
I'm extremely frustrated. I've shot 4200 image with a Nikon D3x, loaded them into Capture One Pro 4.8 on my blazing quick Mac Pro running OS X 10.5.7.
I select all images and hold down the shift key while clicking the process icon which should apparently process all images. It does not. I've dragged the files into the batch window. That doesn't work either. I've selected only 5 images and tried to batch process that. No luck. Every single time I only end up with one image processed. I am absolutely sure I have selected more than one image as Capture One even tells me "and 4179 more images..."
I have successfully batch processed in the past with Canon images. Is this a Nikon specific problem? If so, I guess I'll be switching to the Nikon software.
I've restarted the software 3 times and restarted my mac twice. I have a deadline to meet to hand over the FPO low res images in the next 24 hours so it looks as if I'll have to purchase the Nikon software unless someone has some insight as to why this isn't working. It has been a massive waste of 3 hours now trying to figure out what should be a very simple process.

hi noah,
are you sure you don´t have the "primary variant only"
button selected (orange), it´s the little square button with the one in it
beside the grid and highlight warning button.
If it is orange, only the selected image will be processed.
greetings wolfger0 -
I have the same problem. Glad to know it's not just me.
Update: Seems to be working now. Strange. I have no idea why.0 -
Thanks Wolfger. That seems to have worked. Odd that the button you mentioned could only be found through the "Customize" button (hammer and wrench icon in the top right). It was orange, so I pulled it into the menu right beside the process button (so as not to ever forget it again), clicked it so it became gray and now my mac pro is chugging through thousands of images.
Seems like a good feature to add would be a simple "Batch Process Selected" button that appears beside the "Process" button.
Didn't buy the Nikon NX2 software (although it has some cool features Phase might want to pay attention to).
Again, thanks for your help Wolfger. Much appreciated.0 -
Thanks Wolfger - solved my problem too. 0 -
Same problem for me with Canon .cr2 files. Edit: was also the Primary Variant issue. Thanks. 0 -
Thankfully I found the answer here as to the primary button...seems to me this should have been addressed in the manual. 0 -
Wolfger, you rock! Solved the same issue for me. Not at all intuitive! Thanks for the fix! 0 -
Thanks! I, too, could not batch process because of that little square. 0 -
Thanks Brother!! I'm on Capture One 5.1.1 and this post helped me out. I was about to reinstall my software. Thanks again 0 -

Have you tried the shortcut Shift+Cmd+E or the Edit menu, Edit All Selected Variants.
The Shift+click option temporarily toggle the state in reverse position.0 -

The manual should always be your first source for solving these issues. Page 36 shows the tool you would be after to get a jump on this issue.0 -
Hi,
On Page 145 of the PDF Help file that came with C1 version 5.2, the Batch process is discussed; however, there is no indication as to how to make sure all the images will be processed, based on the information provided. Someone needs to rewrite this section and point us in the right direction. As a newbie to C1, I was lost when I was ready to process all my images. only a single one would print, by default.
Here is what is posted on that page:
12.4 How does the batch work?
After the output recipe is created mark the files to be processed. Now
choose File>Process, or press Process button. The batch of files will be
processed to the selected output folder.
If you wish to Process all selected instead of just one, first select the
images you wish to process then press Process or choose File>Process.
Capture One has been designed to process batches of images quickly
and efficiently.
The Batch of files will start processing immediately after choosing
File>Process or Process button.
Batch processing can work in two ways depending on your preference:
By default, processing happens in the background without noticeable
effect on the performance of the application.
There is the option to stop the batch queue, only enabling it to process
images when other work has finished or overnight.
To set the application to work in this way, go to the Batch Tool tab.
At the bottom of the tab, press the ‘Stop’ button. Processing will not
commence until this has been reset to ‘Start’.
When there are a large number of images in the batch queue, processing
priority can be changed by dragging and dropping unprocessed files
around in the queue.
You can always remove files from the batch queue by marking the file
or files and pressing backspace(mac).0 -

Hello,
This is both a Mac thread and an issue concerning Capture One 4.
Please do not post Capture One 6 / Windows updates to a Capture One 4 / Mac thread.0 -
I just had this same issue after having to set up C1 on my machine again - the real solution has been alluded to already, something as vital as this should really be designed in a intuitive manner so as to not have to resort to the manual at all. Having to look up something like this is simply bad user interface design. A more permanent solution has already been suggested: Seems like a good feature to add would be a simple "Batch Process Selected" button that appears beside the "Process" button.

The most common cause is that CO Pro users have changed the Workspace in a way that the batch queue tool was removed. Restoring the tool will solve the issue (or restoring the default workspace).
From CO7 onwards there is the Export > Variants option, which does not use/need the batch tool.0
