Lable Colours & Star Ratings not being imported
I am using Media Pro SE on Windows 10.
I watched the video tutorial on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ7jtx0-e7E) with regard to setting up Media Pro Preferences and set my Media Pro version up in the same way.
I now note that when Media Pro SE imports my RAW (Nikon) files that the colour tags and the star ratings aren't being imported, although saying that, tiff and jpg files are being imported with the correct colour labels and star ratings, it's only the RAW files that are having a problem.
Have I missed something with the Preferences in Media Pro SE?
Sorry to be asking these questions but I've only just started using Media Pro and did do searches for my queries before posting here... 😊

Hi,
with witch software do have set der colorlabels and rating stars?0 -
The colour labels and star rating were chosen in Capture One Pro 10.
I've since installed and tried ACDSee Pro 10 and that picks up the colour tags and star ratings whereas Media Pro SE doesn't?0 -
Hi Richard,
and which settings do you have for XMP Sync set in C1 10?0 -
Auto Sync sidecar XMP is set to 'Full' on the drop down menu
Prefer Embedded XMP over embedded IPTC is ticked
Prefer Sidecar XMP over embedded Metadata is ticked
I hope this helps?0 -
I've just noticed, on importing some more images into Media Pro SE that some of my RAW files are being imported with colour tags and star ratings and some aren't.
All of the images being imported have been edited in the same way in Capture One Pro 10 so why are some being imported correctly and some not?
If I select the images with no colour tags and star rating and choose to 'Rebuild Item' (CTRL+B) nothing happens, the colour tags and star ratings aren't revealed.
Bizarre?0 -
Media Pro will read the metadata from the XMP sidecar files for raw images. It's pretty robust so I guess Capture One is at fault. Can you browse the folder in Photo Mechanic or Adobe Bridge to see if the images have their ratings and labels? 0 -
I don't have either of those applications on my computer but did try ACDSee and that picked up all of the colour tags and star ratings whereas Media Pro SE didn't?

Jupp. But if you try to import your images, maybe write Media Pro a error message like "can't read metadata"?
I don't know your workflow but do you know - Media Pro is not compatible with latest Capture One versions.0 -

I've just come back from taking a few pictures to try out the import procedure of Media Pro and found it to be a complete mess. When importing new images it placed them in the wrong order to all my other images and even when attempting to sort by Capture Date nothing happened.

I didn't know (but am inclined to agree) that Media Pro doesn't work wit the latest versions Capture One.
I think I'll give up on Media pro SE and delete it from my computer, it really is bad.
Maybe someone else could recommend a good DAM application?
I used to use Lightroom for that purpose but it takes up too much space on my HDD.0 -

LR Catalog itself is not big - some hundreds megabytes. Your Photo previews if you create a 1:1 preview can needs more gigabytes. But there is no difference to another cataloging software (C1 or MP). My small/ old MP catalog is 45GB0 -
I gave Adobe Bridge a go and found that the search feature in there is all I need and it works very well.
Thanks for your input though, it's very much appreciated.. 😉0 -

Thank you so much for your response; I'd completely forgotten about using Nikon applications.
I used to use Capture NX2 all the time and found it to be superb for .nef files.
I'll go and have a look regarding your recommendations.
Thanks again, it's very much appreciated. 😊0
