Different Sparpness between Capture One and Photoshop
Hello,
When I convert my RAW files to TIFF with 16 bit and open in Photoshop I recognise a difference in sharpness. The TIFF is less sharpen then the RAW file in Capture One LE.
Can somebody explain to me how this can happen?
Thank you
Marian

The sharpening effect you see on the preview within Capture One is only a quick simulation done of 25% of the actual photo data.
While I find it is pretty good representation of how the final sharpening will look; it is indeed different.
On the "Focus" tab there is a smaller preview window. What you get there should be the same as the processed TIFF or JPEG output by Capture One.0 -
Christopher,
Your are right. I compared the small focus window with my photoshop 100% view - there was no difference.
It's a pitty that the sharpen preview in phase one is only a preview. I find the preview very good and I have the subjective feeling that the preview is better then the result.☹️
Many thanks for your response.

You can disable the simulated sharpening in the preview by unselecting the third button from the right over the preview area. It is the one with a narrow, down-pointing triangle that has a little red star on it.
That way the preview will not mislead you and you'll have to rely upon the Focus tab for feedback as to how much sharpening is being applied.
Also, on while on the Focus tab the second-to-last button over the sample (it has a small, green square above and to the left of a larger, green square), changes the size of that focus view. So you can get an overview of the actual sharpening across a little bit larger area. Note: A larger focus sample will take longer to update as it is going to the raw source for its information, rather than the preview cache that normally gives Capture One its speed.0 -
Christopher,
many thanks for the tips! I have a much better understanding of the software now.
